vstiff - TIFF stream viewer
SSSSYYYYNNNNOOOOPPPPSSSSIIIISSSS
vvvvssssttttiiiiffffffff [X toolkitoption...] [vstiff option...] [file]
DDDDEEEESSSSCCCCRRRRIIIIPPPPTTTTIIIIOOOONNNN
_v_s_t_i_f_f is a viewer for _S_t_r_e_a_m _T_I_F_F. Stream TIFF is a subset of TIFF that
can be read from and written to a stream (no seeking is required).
_v_s_t_i_f_f draws the image represented by a TIFF stream in a Motif window on
the screen. If a TIFF stream contains more than one image, the Page Down
and Page Up keys can be used to traverse the pages. If an image does not
fit in the window, the scroll bars can be used.
If _v_s_t_i_f_f is used to open a file that is not a Stream TIFF file, it will
check to see if it is a PostScript file and if _p_s_r_i_p(1) is installed. If
so, it will use _p_s_r_i_p(1) to convert the PostScript to Stream TIFF and
display that. If the file is neither Stream TIFF nor PostScript, _v_s_t_i_f_f
will try to run _f_i_l_e_c_o_n_v_e_r_t(1) to convert it to PostScript.

_v_s_t_i_f_f supports the following command line options in addition to the
standard Xt command line options:
----ssssttttddddiiiinnnn If the ----ssssttttddddiiiinnnn command line option is present, _v_s_t_i_f_f reads
Stream TIFF data from its standard input instead of attempting
to open a file. In the absence of the ----ssssttttddddiiiinnnn flag, _v_s_t_i_f_f
ignores its standard input.
----ddddeeeebbbbuuuugggg The ----ddddeeeebbbbuuuugggg flag instructs _v_s_t_i_f_f to print the values of the
TIFF tags of each image it reads. The tag values are printed
to standard error. This can be useful for debugging the
development of filters that output Stream TIFF data.
----nnnnooooooooppppeeeennnn The ----nnnnooooooooppppeeeennnn flag instructs _v_s_t_i_f_f to not allow new files to be
opened by using the FFFFiiiilllleeee menu. If the ----nnnnooooooooppppeeeennnn flag is present,
it is an error not to provide a file name to display on the
command line.
In addition, the following command line arguments correspond to their
similarly named resource equivalents (see next section): ----ppppssssrrrriiiipppp,

_v_s_t_i_f_f is written using the standard X toolkit and the Motif widget set.
The program accepts all standard Xt/Motif resources and command line
options. In addition to these resources the following resources are
specific to the _v_s_t_i_f_f program and may be specified by the user.

The following resources affect options that are passed to the _p_s_r_i_p(1)
command to convert PostScript data to Stream TIFF. See the _p_s_r_i_p(1)
manual page for more information on _p_s_r_i_p(1).
ppppssssRRRRiiiipppp (class PPPPSSSSRRRRiiiipppp)
The program used to convert PostScript to Stream TIFF.
The default is to use /_u_s_r/_l_i_b/_p_r_i_n_t/_p_s_r_i_p.
ppppssssBBBBiiiittttssss (class PPPPSSSSBBBBiiiittttssss)
The number of bits per pixel to output in the conversion
from PostScript to Stream TIFF. Corresponds to the ----BBBB
option of _p_s_r_i_p(1).
ppppssssCCCCoooolllloooorrrrSSSSppppaaaacccceeee (class PPPPSSSSCCCCoooolllloooorrrrSSSSppppaaaacccceeee)
The color space to use in the conversion. Corresponds to
the ----CCCC option of _p_s_r_i_p(1).
ppppssssFFFFoooorrrrmmmmaaaatttt (class PPPPSSSSFFFFoooorrrrmmmmaaaatttt)
The format to use in the conversion. Corresponds to the
----FFFF option of _p_s_r_i_p(1).
ppppssssXXXXRRRReeeessss (class PPPPSSSSXXXXRRRReeeessss)
The X resolution to use in the conversion. Corresponds to
the ----XXXX option of _p_s_r_i_p(1).
ppppssssYYYYRRRReeeessss (class PPPPSSSSYYYYRRRReeeessss)
The Y resolution to use in the conversion. Corresponds to
the ----YYYY option of _p_s_r_i_p(1).
ppppssssWWWWiiiiddddtttthhhh (class PPPPSSSSWWWWiiiiddddtttthhhh)
The width to use in the conversion. Corresponds to the ----WWWW
option of _p_s_r_i_p(1).
ppppssssXXXXIIIInnnncccchhhheeeessss (class PPPPSSSSXXXXIIIInnnncccchhhheeeessss)
If this resource is set and ppppssssWWWWiiiiddddtttthhhh is not, then _v_s_t_i_f_f
will calculate the ----WWWW option to pass to _p_s_r_i_p as ppppssssXXXXIIIInnnncccchhhheeeessss
multiplied by ppppssssXXXXRRRReeeessss. if ppppssssWWWWiiiiddddtttthhhh is set, ppppssssXXXXIIIInnnncccchhhheeeessss has no
effect.

stream that does not already contain one. Corresponds to
the ----SSSS option of _p_s_r_i_p(1).
NNNNOOOOTTTTEEEESSSS
_v_s_t_i_f_f is NOT a general purpose TIFF viewer. _i_m_g_v_i_e_w(1) can be used to
view TIFF files that vstiff cannot open.
_v_s_t_i_f_f ignores any print specific tags written to the STIFF stream by the
function _P_S_T_W_r_i_t_e_I_m_a_g_e_H_e_a_d_e_r(3).
